In 2026 I came across the 200 Motels - The suites score, with this example corresponding with bars 184-188 from The pleated gazelle. See below for bars 184-186, the meters are notated differently, otherwise it's not that different:
- The encircled notes are absent on the 1971 album.
- Several other notes from the score are not or hardly audible on the 1971 album.
Even though instruments can be indicated as in Bb or D, it's a concert score. The initial pages say it is and the trumpet in D from staff 1 is indeed played untransposed. The trumpet in Bb from staff 2, however, is played a second lower, as if it's a transposed Bb trumpet. What happened in all pages of the score I came across, is that some notes got shifted with a minor or major second, so I'm not sure about its status. I said this about the previous example too, but it can be repeated it for every example. On The suites CD, the example above corresponds with 10:24-10:35 of The pleated gazelle.
